An important contribution from a member of the 'Thunderbolts.info forum' comes from the experiments of James St. Pea
username plasmatica, who, with an ionic air purifier came up with these results.
Those experiments have shown the patterns, in dust, formed by electric discharge to deeper material than was accomplished in CRT experiemnt.

His images are the two that follow

From Other Experiments

The next image shows the result of a dark-discharge (no arc) from a laterally-stationary probe(my finger) lowered toward a plastic lid, containing sifted and strained dirt, on the monitor (powered on for this phase). I could feel strong air movement as the material was removed, note that the centers were not disturbed in either feature. The small one was made second as charge equalibrium was occurring.

The additional features were made with the power off.

These next images are from the pass-over monitor experiment

The crater-like features and the negative-spiders are two ends of the same discharge.

There are interior features in these crater-like circles which may give us a clue to dendritic ridge formation.
